Lists

19 During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven

20 and said:
"Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever;
wisdom and power are his.

21 He changes times and seasons;
he sets up kings and deposes them.
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to the discerning.

22 He reveals deep and hidden things;
he knows what lies in darkness,
and light dwells with him.

23 I thank and praise you, O God of my fathers:
You have given me wisdom and power,
you have made known to me what we asked of you,
you have made known to us the dream of the king."

Well, I'm coughing my head off this morning. Funny how we use phrases like that to describe the condition we are in and everyone understands exactly what is meant. At least I don't feel ill so I'm thankful for that.

This morning I picked up a workshop book on Daniel that was taught by Beth Moore via video tape last year at our church. I didn't finish the course because I missed a couple of sessions when I re-injured my knee, or at least that was my excuse. By the time my knee felt better, I had missed so much and felt so far behind, I just didn't go back.

Anyway, in Daniel 20, Daniel shouts praise to God for answered prayer. He starts out talking about God and ends with talking to God. Daniel makes a list of who God is and then thanks Him for answered prayer. I think sometimes we need to remind ourselves who God is and then make an answered prayer list just like Daniel did. I'm guilty of getting an answer to a prayer and then moving on to my next request without taking time to thank God for what He has already done. Since I'm a list maker, perhaps I should sit down and list my answered prayers starting out with the ones from my childhood. Wow, just thinking about doing this makes me realize I'm going to have to get a journal with lots of pages.
