Mercy

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Genesis 1-26

In 2000 my cat of 16 years had to be put down because he was in so much pain from tumors in his body. It broke my heart and I vowed I would never have another pet. It was almost a year before I woke one morning and just had to have a kitten. I can't really describe the feeling other than to tell you it was almost like being possessed. I HAD to have a kitten that day. As soon as it was time for the animal shelter to open I called to talk to the personnel there. Hours had passed since I first woke with this burning need for a kitten that day and my voice quivered as I tried to explain that I needed a kitten because I missed Chichi so much. I couldn't wait for another day or time, I needed a kitten that very moment.

The lady on the other end of the phone let me rattle on and when I caught my breath she spoke softly and said she did have some kittens but she could tell that I didn't need just any kind of cat. I needed a special cat and she had just the one for me. This was not a kitten but as cat about a year old that someone could no longer keep and had brought to the shelter. The cat was frightened and needed someone to hold her and give her love. The animal shelter person asked me to please consider this cat rather than a kitten as this was her last day at the shelter.

Well, you know the rest of the story. Cocoa puff lives and is a true treasure.

I hope your day is a good one. My mother is resting comfortably after her ordeal with the procedure at the hospital. Her colon showed no major problem on the inside but she does have some kind of inflammation on the outside, which the doctors are going to treat with antibiotics.

God is good and His mercy endures forever.

Psalm 136
Thanksgiving to God for His Enduring Mercy
1 Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.
2 Oh, give thanks to the God of gods!
For His mercy endures forever.
3 Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords!
For His mercy endures forever:

4 To Him who alone does great wonders,
For His mercy endures forever;
5 To Him who by wisdom made the heavens,
For His mercy endures forever;
6 To Him who laid out the earth above the waters,
For His mercy endures forever;
7 To Him who made great lights,
For His mercy endures forever—
8 The sun to rule by day,
For His mercy endures forever;
9 The moon and stars to rule by night,
For His mercy endures forever.

10 To Him who struck Egypt in their firstborn,
For His mercy endures forever;
11 And brought out Israel from among them,
For His mercy endures forever;
12 With a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm,
For His mercy endures forever;
13 To Him who divided the Red Sea in two,
For His mercy endures forever;
14 And made Israel pass through the midst of it,
For His mercy endures forever;
15 But overthrew Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea,
For His mercy endures forever;
16 To Him who led His people through the wilderness,
For His mercy endures forever;
17 To Him who struck down great kings,
For His mercy endures forever;
18 And slew famous kings,
For His mercy endures forever—
19 Sihon king of the Amorites,
For His mercy endures forever;
20 And Og king of Bashan,
For His mercy endures forever—
21 And gave their land as a heritage,
For His mercy endures forever;
22 A heritage to Israel His servant,
For His mercy endures forever.

23 Who remembered us in our lowly state,
For His mercy endures forever;
24 And rescued us from our enemies,
For His mercy endures forever;
25 Who gives food to all flesh,
For His mercy endures forever.

26 Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven!
For His mercy endures forever.
