Time?

2 Peter 3: 1-9

1 Dear friends, this is now my second letter to you. I have written both of them as reminders to stimulate you to wholesome thinking.

2 I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles.

3 First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.

4 They will say, "Where is this 'coming' he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation."

5 But they deliberately forget that long ago by God's word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water.

6 By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed.

7 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Here on this earth we measure time but the scripture above tells us that the Lord's day can't be measured. It's a mystery. How can there be no time? The only thing I know about having no time is measured by time. :) When these verses were written, the apostles expected Jesus Christ to return shortly. They were measuring time just like we do by what we know about time.

As I think on these words today I'll be thinking about time and about the return of Jesus and remembering that we don't know when He will choose to come for us. We just need to be ready, but I don't think we need to pack anything. :) It must be truly grand not to worry about time.

Vicky and Danny Smith, members of my church, are going to travel to Moldova next week to take Bibles and talk to the people there about Jesus Christ. I thought you might like to see some photos of where they are going and pray with me that their trip will be successful and they will have a safe journey there and back.

the concept of time baffles me....even man's idea of time is intriguing as it has changed through the years with the onset of new calendar measurements...leaves me to wonder where are we really?... but then I find comfort in knowing time is just a place for busy work here on earth and it will no longer be needed...how comforting to know there will be no constraints, only the pure love of our Father.
Love the pictures...what a beautiful place to share the word of God in.

have a good day Phyllis~
love,
Joni
